What is the biggest Wedding day DISASTER that you have ever heard about or seen?
I've been privy to a couple. I once knew a bride who was - very sadly - critically injured on her wedding day. She made a full recovery though. But it obviously ruined the day.
Another one: 250 guests show up and the Groom bails at the last second. He's a no show!
What are the worst wedding day stories you have ever heard about or seen?
I went to a friend's wedding last weekend & was one of her assistants. What a mess that turned out good.
The cake & serving pieces never arrived. The flowers were over 2 hours late. When the bride asked me to call about the cake, the place had a disconnected phone. I drove over to the location to find it padlocked. They'd filed for bankruptcy & hadn't told anyone. When I let the bride know, she didn't panic, thankfully. Her mom handled the flower issue by stopping payment on the flower arrangements & having a long chat with the florist. She'd forgotten that the wedding was last weekend & hadn't planned on any deliveries. That was odd because most floral shops deliver at least 5-6 days a week, some 7.
As for the cake, I took 3 ladies with me to Costco. We purchased several sheet cakes in various sizes & made our own Wedding Cake. We stopped at a bakery & bought a gorgeous topper, a plastic serving set & several wooden dowels. Between the 3 of us, we quickly put together a 6 tiered cake. We were afraid it'd fall but it didn't. The bride & groom were thankful beyond words.
The groom's parents are tracking down info on the bakery that filed bankruptcy to find out more info, if possible. I doubt they'll get a refund of any kind, but they want some answers on why the place was still accepting orders if they were going to be closed down so soon.
