How To Make Great Vintage Glamour Images
Making old-school glamour photographs is not only amusing yet rather challenging, as it demands good knowledge of numerous nuances e.g. posing, lighting and composition, let alone the unique spirit of golden age of glamour images. Shooting vintage glamour image is fun because it makes the subject look as if it was a star of the past golden age or a pin-up model while being dramatic with a lot of contrast. For a glamour photographer it should be quite doable to make an old-school picture using some thoughtful lighting, posing and accessories.
Lighting is of utmost importance here as creating an image is All About manipulating light. Studio should be just the right location for such experiments with Glamour Photos, as the task calls for creative approach to the issues of light. Shadow beneath the nose is the characteristic of glamour images from the golden age, so you would require a strong, undiffused key light shinning at a high angle, which makes the model appear to be in the spotlight. Moreover, the focus should be on contrast, and fill lights need to shine at one third the key light intensity to show the contours of the face.
